Summer Space: September 12th & 19th

Summer Space 2009

Summer Space, Montague Street's annual pedestrian-plaza event series, will be held on two Sundays in mid September – from 10 am to 5 pm on the 12th, and from noon to 5 pm on the 19th. On those dates, Montague Street will be car-free between Clinton and Hicks.

Local arts groups and non-profits will provide free activities and events, and Montague Street businesses will offer promotions and sidewalk sales.

The 12th is focused on arts and food — and it's the same day as the nearby Brooklyn Book Festival. The 19th is all about family fun and games.

How BID Restaurants Can Participate

Here's how BID restaurants and other food-service establishments can take part:

Join the September 12th free-sample promo.  Give out free samples at 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm, for 10 minutes each time. That's the same day as the Brooklyn Book Festival, so expect lots of visitors! We'll promote your participation in the Book Festival program.

Offer or expand outdoor café seating on either date.

Offer any other promotion on the 12th or 19th – we'll help get the word out through our media partners, the Brooklyn Eagle and Brooklyn Heights Blog, and others.

How BID Retailers Can Participate

BID retail establishments can:

Hold an outdoor promotion. Use the sidewalk or street to give away items, host fun events, or otherwise promote your business.

Have a sidewalk sale. Display merchandise outside, then have shoppers go inside to buy.

Offer an in-store event on the 12th or 19th – the BID will help get the word out.
